The Moon's neighbourhood
These four yogas read one thing: what occupies the signs on either side of your Moon, ignoring the Sun. A graha behind it makes Sunapha, ahead of it makes Anapha, on both sides makes Durudhara, and neither side makes Kemadruma. Kemadruma is the one worth being careful about — this engine emits it only with the mainstream cancellation applied, because the uncancelled form fires on far too many charts to carry the weight the texts give it. That is a deliberate choice, and it is why this page may say nothing where a harsher reading would alarm you.
Why did another site tell me I have Kemadruma and you did not?
Because most do not apply the cancellation. A support graha conjunct the Moon, or in a kendra from it, cancels the isolation in the mainstream reading — and once you apply it, Kemadruma becomes rare rather than routine.
Does the Sun count as a neighbour?
No. These four yogas are read ignoring the Sun, which is the standard definition — the Sun is almost always near the Moon at some point in the month, so counting it would make the yogas meaningless.
Is Durudhara better than Sunapha?
The texts read support from both sides as stronger than support from one, but this page does not rank them for you — it tells you which one forms and which grahas make it.
