What is kept
The ekadashi that falls in Pitru Paksha, kept for the ancestors. Its katha is of King Indrasen, who kept this fast so that his father would be freed and reach a better world. Many families do a shraddh for their ancestors on this day too. Like every ekadashi it is kept for Lord Vishnu: no rice or grains, and the fast is broken the next day, on Dwadashi, at the parana time given on this page.
