Pradosh Vrat 2024

What is kept

A fast for Lord Shiva, kept twice a month on Trayodashi, the thirteenth day. The puja is done at dusk, in Pradosh kaal, which is why the date is fixed by the tithi running at dusk. People fast till evening, bathe the Shivling with water and milk, offer bel leaves, and chant Om Namah Shivaya. It is named by the weekday it falls on: Som Pradosh on a Monday and Shani Pradosh on a Saturday are held especially dear.
