What is kept
The festival of brothers and sisters, on the full moon of Shravan. The sister puts a tilak on her brother, ties a rakhi on his wrist, does his aarti and feeds him a sweet. The brother promises to always stand by her and gives her a gift. On the same day many Brahmins change their janeu, the sacred thread, which is called Shravani or Upakarma.
