What is kept
Saphala means the one that makes efforts succeed. People worship Lord Vishnu with fruits and light lamps at night. Its katha is of Lumpak, a king's son who had gone astray and turned his life around after keeping this fast without knowing it. Like every ekadashi it is kept for Lord Vishnu: no rice or grains, and the fast is broken the next day, on Dwadashi, at the parana time given on this page.
