What is kept
Papamochani means the one that frees from sins. It is the last ekadashi before the Hindu new year. Its katha is of the sage Medhavi, who kept this fast on his father's advice to undo a wrong he had done. Like every ekadashi it is kept for Lord Vishnu: no rice or grains, and the fast is broken the next day, on Dwadashi, at the parana time given on this page.
