What is kept
The festival of the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, kept most of all in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern UP and the Nepal terai. It runs four days: Nahay Khay, then Kharna, then the evening arghya, then the morning arghya. The date here is the main day, when those keeping the fast stand in a river or pond and offer arghya to the setting sun. Thekua is the special prasad.
